Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival

The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is one of the most highly regarded, popular arts festivals in the United States. The three-day, juried art show features some of the nation’s best painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers, graphic artists, craftsmen and other artists. It is held the weekend starting with the first Friday in November.
Each year, more than 600 applications are received for the festival. Qualified jurors choose the 200+ artists and artisans who will be invited to exhibit their work.
The artists compete for a total of $25,000 in prize money in categories including ceramics, drawing, fiber/leather, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oil/acrylic, photography, printmaking/graphics, sculpture, watercolor and wood.

This family oriented festival is ranked in the top 50 Fine Art Shows in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine.

DON NIBERT (below) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is an award winning, master raku potter.  We have purchased a small collection of his works over the years at the GGAF, including the above.
All eight pieces above are in our Isle of Arran house in Scotland.

'The Bridesmaid', a limited edition photo, from Pensacola, photographer, J.D.Hayward, was purchased at a past festival, and now hangs in our summer house in Scotland.
Many wonderful wearable textiles are always on show at the festival. Before I retired, I would purchase 1-2 unique, hand made, silk screened ties every year for a dash of individuality with my business suits.

A major attraction for me is the Festival's wonderful venue of Seville Square,  featuring nature's magnificent works of art, the live oak trees. The mesmerising abstraction of the huge meandering limbs compliment the artists work and are creatively used as unique display props.  Just to stroll below this stunning canopy of fascinating tree limbs is always a wonder. To do so during the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is something very special indeed.

The Festival features great music on the Main Stage, dance and more on the Parrish Performing Arts Stage. The Children's Stage features local performing arts, dance, and music groups.

The festival also celebrates the artisan history in the Pensacola Heritage Arts Area, where local craft workers demonstrate traditional arts, crafts and trades, including blacksmithing, engraving, spinning, weaving and other skills.

The Children’s Arts Festival features numerous free, hands-on artistic opportunities for kids. The Student Art Show showcases the talents of school students in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.

Some of Pensacola’s best-known restaurants are on site serving local favorite concessions, along with dozens of booths serving traditional festival fare.
